3 TV Shows That Make Me Feel Like Super Mom!

Super Mom is a myth. Motherhood is hard. It’s rarely all sunshine and roses, in spite of what our social media feeds may suggest. I know I’ve had my fair share of moments that test my patience, make me question my decision to procreate, and leave my sanity hanging on by a thread…a very skinny, almost non-existent thread.

In these moments my husband will say to me (in a playfully condescending almost mocking way), “Let’s have kids she says…it will be fun she says.” I usually roll my eyes and give him a shove. It’s one of the games we play to break the tension when parenting gets hard.

Everyone needs their outlet. A bottle glass of wine. A good run…or cry…or both. Friends you can vent to while being completely, inappropriately honest with. Finding ways to laugh and relieve the stress of motherhood is important! One of my favorites? Watching someone else fail. Hopefully more miserably than I did.

So in honor of Mother’s Day weekend and all you hard working Mama’s, I thought I’d share the 3 shows that make me feel like Super Mom! If you haven’t seen them, I highly recommend you check them out. The laughs are endless!

3 TV Shows That Make Me Feel Like Super Mom:

  1. The Detour – With a tagline of “Life has no safe word”, it makes you question what in parenting requires a safe word?! This show will have you laughing so hard you will cry. A new show on TBS, it provides a weekly dose of Vacation (or any of the old Griswald movies, just in more modern escapades). They tackle the tough stuff, many times in the wrong way. Every turn is filled with moments that make you glad it’s not your life.
  2. Catastrophe – One messed up, modern day romance boy knocks up girl. You need a strong sense of humor and a slightly dirty mind to appreciate their humor. At times it will have you questioning whether they are being sarcastic or serious. Regardless, it’s hilarious watching them fumble their way through an unplanned parenthood. Makes me realize that no matter what I do, I can’t screw things up like they can. This one is on Amazon.
  3. The Middle – Where mediocrity reigns supreme! If I’m being honest, sometimes I see a lot of me in this show. However, I’d like to think I’m at least a slight step above Frankie Heck. This show is good for a laugh. It also makes me feel like I’m not alone in my quest to cut corners and still make it work. Either way, it’s a win. You can find this one on ABC.

Happy binge watching! What are you watching that provides a good laugh at parenting?
