If my kids were in charge for the day…ha! Let’s be honest, they are in charge everyday. They dictate my sleeping schedule, or lack thereof. They determine what we eat (yuck, I don’t like that). They set the mood with their fighting, whining, crying…OK and their laughter.

In spite of all that, I try not to let them know they are in charge.

So let’s for a moment pretend. What would it look like if they really were in charge. Made every decision. Ruled the home. Lord help us.

1. We would all be awake and out of bed by 6:45.
2. The day would be spent wearing only our underwear! Because that’s how my kids roll. See my post “My Kids Hate Clothes” and you will understand why.
3. Cameron (7) would be playing video games ALL DAY LONG! Melia (4) would try but tire quickly. She’d watch for a little while. Then we’d be off doing crafts. Likely decorating stars (not sure where this ever came from but she loves it). Then playing “pretend we are princesses”. Sienna (3 months) would be in my arms constantly. Wait…how is that different?!
4. Waffles for breakfast. Probably plain with no syrup so we can eat them while playing video games (gotta have priorities). Definitely Burger King for lunch. They have a play area! But wait, that will require clothes to be worn…make that a maybe. Then Golden Corral for dinner. They just think it’s so cool you can get your own food. Plus there is ice cream for dessert. What can I say, they go for the classy places. Maybe we wouldn’t need our clothes for this one?!  🙂
5. There would be some rules.
   • All trash can be thrown on the floor or randomly left on the couch, counter, table, etc.
   • No outside play. Except for swimming. We should go swimming!
   • Snacks Junk food would be available all day for snacking purposes, regardless of the time.
   • Bed times do not exist. We should all stay awake until we are ready to pass out. Then go to sleep in Mom & Dad’s room because their rooms are too scary.

Might not be a bad idea to let this happen! At least we wouldn’t have fighting. Cameron would be too busy playing video games so the big kids would leave each other alone. I’m liking that idea. Now if I could just get Grandma to come over and take over the adult role so I could sleep in and be in charge of my own day…a girl can dream!
