Kids Say The Darndest Things

Kids are honest. Sometimes to a fault. They aren’t afraid to tell it like it is without realizing it may not have been the best thing to say.

Perfect example. Three months ago, I had a c-section to deliver our 3rd baby. Four days ago, I had my gallbladder removed (thank you pregnancy). Needless to say, my stomach has taken a beating! My son, sweet boy that he is, was watching TV when a commercial came onĀ for a body sculpting company called Sono Bello.

My son loves his commercials! In the commercial they are talking about getting the body you’ve always wanted and getting rid of the unwanted fat. I notice Cameron (7) watching this intently. Then I see him glance over at my stomach, and then back at the TV. He then says, “You need that, right Mom?”

First of all, thank you Cameron for pointing out the obvious!

My response, “Well, yes that would be nice. However, once my stomach heals it will go back to normal so I won’t need that.”

With an “Oh, OK”, he was back to watching TV.

Me, I was scratching ice cream off the grocery list and counting down the days to when I could start doing some sit ups.

Kids often give you brutal honesty whether you want it or not. As the say goes: Kids say the darndest things. Just another joy of parenting.
