Ok so I know it’s really early to start thinking about Christmas! Normally I would judge anyone that begins any sort of Christmas festivities before Thanksgiving Day. Since it’s not even Halloween yet, the fact I’m posting anything related to Christmas is just plain wrong. BUT…
Today I ordered Sienna’s Santa bag!
This is a tradition we started when Cameron (now 7) was just 2. A co-worker had told me about these adorable bags at Pottery Barn. At the time, I still had a Pottery Barn gift card we had received as a wedding gift. So of course we had to have one!
They are a soft, red fleece fabric with white trim. They have a drawstring close. Best of all, they can be personalized! We chose to purchase the small bags and have each child’s name on it. You could also go the route of buying the bigger bag and putting your last name on it. Regardless, they are so cute.
Each year on Christmas Eve, the kids get their bags out to leave by the tree for Santa. We put his milk and cookies right next to them. Now when Santa visits, he can leave his gifts inside the bag instead of just under the tree. It makes for easy gift distribution on Christmas morning. They also know right away what gifts Santa brought!
We’ve also used them as props in family Christmas photos.
I must say I’m pretty proud of myself. I’m usually a procrastinator and wait until the very last minute. Not this time! The baby’s bag is on it’s way! Kind of sad that this will be our last Santa bag purchase.
What traditions have you started?
