Today was just like any other day. I dropped the kids off at school. Since the baby was up and rode with me, I decided to run some errands. I needed to pick up a few final things for Cameron’s birthday celebration this weekend.
First stop was Party City to take care of the balloons and pick up some treats for the kids. Next stop was Walgreens for kids medicine (of course everyone is sick). Had to stop to get gas. Then I decided to head to Target to finish up his gift (I’m so last minute).
That’s when it happened. I pulled into a parking spot at Target. Before getting out of the car I glanced in the mirror. What I saw caused me to have a mini freak out.
I was staring back at the sterotypical stay at home mom.
Gray hair that was long overdue for a dye job. Hair haphazardly pulled back into a pony tail. No makeup on. My old t-shirt with paint all over it. The worst part? I was out in public! The only thing I had going for me was that I had put a bra on.
What in the hell?! I’m pretty sure I said it out loud. When did this happen? How did I let this happen? Apparently being home with kids has started to take it’s toll!
Before entering the world of full-time mom, I wouldn’t have been caught dead leaving the house like that. I’m sure we were moments away from you seeing me featured on the “People of Walmart” site. I shudder to even think about it.
That was my wake up call! I’m putting me back at the top of my priority list.
The first thing I did when I went into Target? I went right to the hair dye. Best purchase I’ve made in the last 4 months!
