18 Signs You’re A Mom

Being a Mom is amazing! Being the center of someone’s universe. The genuine excitement that is expressed when I come home. Endless hugs and unconditional love. However, it’s not all sunshine and roses. Any parent out there will agree that your life changes more dramatically than you ever thought possible. Somehow, it’s all worth it!

I’ve come to realize though there are undeniable signs that you’re a Mom. Somehow the moment you become a Mom, these things begin to define your life. Usually without you realizing it. Here’s my list of the 18 things all Mom’s have in common.

18 Signs You’re A Mom

  1. You’ve been peed on, pooped on, and vomited on…likely all in the same day.
  2. A fun night out with your Mom friends starts with happy hour and ends before the sun goes down. Who stays out past 9 PM any more?
  3. If someone were to look at the pictures on your phone, they would find 300 selfies from your kid and another 200 random blurry shots of your floor, kids feet, and the ceiling.
  4. You repeatedly find yourself saying, “Go put some clothes on.”
  5. You ask everyone if they need to go potty.
  6. Speaking of potty, you never pee alone. Never! They always find you.
  7. You start saying everything your mother used to say!
  8. Sleeping is a thing of the past. In fact, you can’t even remember what it feels like to sleep past 8 AM.
  9. You measure a car’s value by how many car seats/booster seats can comfortably fit while still allowing for strollers, groceries, and all the other crap you haul around every day.
  10. No one takes you seriously until you are screaming and turn into a crazy person.
  11. You have washed the same load of laundry 3 times because you keep forgetting it’s in there (psst – washing it with vinegar helps get rid of that mildew smell…not that I would know anything about that).
  12. You know the location of as well as what the inside of every bathroom in town looks like because your kids always have to pee.
  13. Showers are no longer a solo event, and the second person isn’t your significant other.
  14. You randomly find yourself singing along to all the opening songs of every kid show that comes on.
  15. You lick your thumb to wipe something off someone’s face.
  16. Days are spent searching for lost shoes.
  17. You’ve sat in your car while your kid napped just so you could get a few more minutes of peace.
  18. You either wait until the kids go to bed or you hide in the closet to eat treats so you don’t have to share.

Bonus Reason: You stay up late just to get some time to yourself, even though you are tired. It’s the only alone time you get. Now, I’m going to enjoy mine. 🙂
